Milan Fashion Week is one of the "Big 4" international fashion trade shows, the others being in New York, London and Paris. The event is owned by the National Chamber for Italian Fashion (a non-profit association, aiming to develop and promote the Italian fashion industry). It is open to both men's and women's fashion.

The show was inaugurated in 1958 and its success should not be a big surprise, as it is the home to notorious fashion houses and designers such as Giorgio Armani, Valentino, Moschino, Dolce & Gabbana, Gianni Versace or Prada. The 2013 edition of the event attracted over 350,000 visitors (a 13% year on year increase) to view the works of more than 60 designers. During the same edition, the city also saw a record of 5 million visitors in 6 days. Therefore, it is rather evident that the event is of great importance to the tourism sector as well.

The next edition will take place from the 25th of February until the 5th of March, 2015 at Moda Donna in Milan.
