Asia-Pacific Association for International Education

APAIE is poised to ride the Next Wave and satisfy its vision of profound and expanding regional scholarly collaboration. Conceived to unite the institutions of the Asia Pacific region, APAIE is now recognized as the foundation that supports international educators, students and institutions. In March 2013, APAIE holds its 8th Annual Conference and Exhibition, hosted by the Chinese University of Hong Kong, Hong Kong.

AsiaWorld-Expo, located at the Hong Kong International Airport, is a world class exhibition and events venue offering over 70,000 square metres of rentable space for exhibitions, conventions, concerts, sports and entertainment events. This new generation, state-of-the-art complex is located at the centre of an extensive and efficient air, land and marine transport network connecting Hong Kong with China’s Pearl River Delta and the world’s business capitals. AsiaWorld-Expo is the only exhibition centre in the world that is situated in a multi-modal transportation hub.

The Asia Pacific Association for International Education (APAIE) was established by a Founding Committee consisting of university representatives from thirteen countries regions in the Asia Pacific in 2004. It is a non-profit professional organization whose goal is to achieve greater cooperation among the academic institutions of higher education in the Asia-Pacific region. The organization helps and encourages the members to actively participate in exchange between institutions in the region. A conference is held every spring by APAIE.

The mission of APAIE is to achieve greater cooperation amongst those responsible for international education and internationalization in Asia- Pacific institutions and to promote the quality of international programs, activities, and exchanges for the harmony and the advancement of the Asia-Pacific region. The Association promotes dialog and cooperation between institutions in the Asia-Pacific region and those outside the region. Towards this aim the Association devotes itself to the principles of mutual respect, diverse and representative membership, and collective progress.

APAIE seeks to bring together international educators active in Asia-Pacific higher education and other relevant organization to promote communication, networking, and professional development. The Association would like to facilitate the exchange and mobility of students, staff and scholars, and the advancement of academic collaboration inter-regionally. APAIE strives to provide a channel for benchmarking for the advancement of members and their institutions, to recommend good practices and policy in cooperation with various institutions and agencies, and to effectively represent the views of its membership with regard to international education.
